The Importance of Vitamins and Minerals for Fitness Gains
Importance of Vitamins and Minerals for Fitness Gains
One big issue with low carb and keto diets is getting in all the right amounts of vitamins and minerals without the risk of kicking your body out of ketosis or “fat burning mode”. By restricting carbohydrates, we, unfortunately, also need to restrict some of the foods that are packed with the essential nutrients we need for growth and results like fruits and vegetables.
Why are these so important for physical fitness gains? When we perform weight training or strenuous exercises we are tearing our muscles. Recovery and repair of these muscles and tissues require a host of vitamins and minerals that participate in the synthesis of new cells. So how do I manage to get all these in without breaking my diet? I have 3 things that I take daily: Animal Pak, Macro Greens and Miracle Reds. Many people are skeptical about supplements and believe that the best way to maintain a healthy lifestyle is by getting nutrients through food. The truth is, due to the recent poor quality of soil, fruits and vegetables are not as loaded with nutrients as they used to be.
Animal Pak:
Animal Pak is a multivitamin designed specifically for people who are serious about seeing gains in their physical fitness goals. Any multivitamin will suffice but the one I prefer to use daily is Animal Pak. Besides being a multivitamin, it is also an amino acid supplement, a digestive aid supplement, and a performance enhancing supplement. Animal Pak does not contain any stimulants and contains a range of essential and non-essential amino acids, digestive enzymes, electrolytes, antioxidants, and other nutrients. Animal Pak contains the basic nutrients your body needs. If your body isn’t running at peak levels (if it doesn’t have all the vitamins and minerals it needs) other supplements you take may not work as effectively. Many multivitamins can be taken first thing in the morning but I prefer to take Animal Pak about an hour before my workout with my pre-workout meal. If you take a multi too early then your body will pass on the water soluble vitamins before you hit the gym.
Macro Greens:
Macro Greens is a non-allergenic nutrient-rich super food supplement that optimizes pH for stimulant-free health and surpasses the nutrition of five servings of fruits and vegetables without the calories or carbohydrates. The benefits of using Macro Greens daily includes increased energy, weight loss, increased mental clarity, balanced blood sugar, a strengthened immune system and improved digestion. It does taste “green” but I like the taste a lot and find it actually tastes pretty great when mixed with 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and 1 packet of PureVia. This powder also helps curb my hunger cravings throughout the day.
Miracle Reds:
Miracle Reds is a super fruit anti-aging blend that provides a full spectrum of antioxidant protection. It contains key compounds that help mop up unstable free radicals that damage healthy cells and cause premature aging. It contains goji, pomegranate, acai and mangosteen and tastes almost like a fruit juice!
